Vairagya

Today I was doing some yoga reading and one of the subjects I read about was  attachment… "Vairagya/Non-attachment: The essential companion is non-attachment (1.15), learning to let go of the many attachments, aversions, fears, and false identities that are clouding the true Self"….. and it got me thinking…what am I attached to…..

1. Books…..Yes these are some of my books and I ordered 2 more books on Amazon today. I know I am addicted to books and my mother reminds me every time she visits…"Susan do you read all this books, this is ridiculous!" Then the next day she calls and asks if I can recommend a book for her to read and do I have a copy.

3. Dogs…….I love dogs to such an extreme that I take pictures of my neighbors dogs (who could resist taking a picture of Jilly?).

Okay the books and art supply purchases need to be limited…no I am not ready to give them up and I may never be. Really a girl needs her books and paints.

Finally, my love of dogs is a good thing as long as I don't bring home another 4 legged critter.

    i miss you!! Linda

  2. Uhmmm…addiction issues? Amazon disorder should get it’s own DSM4 diagnosis code – it is harder to kick than smoking, than bad love interests and life patterns, than wheat and sugar, than ANYTHING – and I should know- as you know, since we are always dumping books on one another – arghhh. But yeah, there are WAAAAAAAYYYYYYY worse things. And I’m glad to have a fellow addict whose only twelve-step move is the few it takes to order more books.
