The weather report is….
"Snow after midnight. Total snow accumulation of 3 to 5 inches. Lows in the mid 20s. East winds around 5 mph…becoming north after midnight. Chance of snow near 100 percent."
But as you can see the snow has started and it is hours before midnight. So I am hoping that it is over (the snow) sooner than expected and school will not be cancelled. My Children tell me I am dead wrong and school will definitely cancelled.
Since I have no control over the weather I am settling in with a glass of wine and several books.
I forgot to add a book to the pile which I am currently enthralled with. The book was written in 1966 by Amy Vanderbilt and the title is Organize Your life. I was some what surprised to find this passage because are we not still striving for the same thing now 40+ years later…
Whatever duty you have to your children and your husband, the household, and the community, your duty to yourself as a woman must come first. A martyr is never a warm and comfortable woman."easier said than done," you say. "I have four children. I am up before seven and I rarely go to bed before midnight. I am family chauffeur. I am expected to take some part in my community activities. My church needs me. I pay the family bills. I never find time for myself."
If all this is true, you are expecting to much of your self and letting other people expect to much of you. If you arrange time for yourself , you will be a better wife, a more contributing member of the community.
